VP of Engineering & Tooling

VP, Engineering & Tooling Job description Manages company engineering, tool fabrication, and new product development departments and teams. Responsible to provide technical support to the sales team. Is responsible to keep the departments on the cutting edge of technology. Must be knowledgeable in the design and build of progressive carbide dies. Must be a good organizer, creative, and a visionary. Must be hands on and not hesitant in getting involved in the day-to-day challenges. Is part of the executive team and involved in the strategic planning of the plant. Primary Responsibilities Managing of company engineering/tooling and technical activities, to assure that tooling programs are within budget and on time. Is responsible for efficient staffing of all departments and assures that all technical and support personnel are properly qualified, trained, and supervised to perform their assignments effectively within budget and on time. Maintains a healthy team environment that creates a climate for effective commercial engineering/tooling innovation. Responsible for all quoting activity of new programs in support of sales Coordinates company engineering activities with manufacturing functions. Works closely with manufacturing for the orderly transfer of new tooling from engineering to manufacturing and for tooling modifications. Aids manufacturing in the development of cost-effective manufacturing techniques. Leads in the development of make or buy decisions in all tooling programs. Selects vendors and develops an awareness of related advanced technologies and how they may be applied to improving performance and reducing the cost of the company's tooling. Member of the executive team which is responsible for the development of company policies and plans. Education and Experience Requires superior analytical and interpersonal skills BS degree in an Engineering related discipline or equivalent education/experience A minimum of 10 years of experience in a medium/high volume stamping manufacturing environment in a design and die building capacity Effectively communicate with customers regarding tooling and related processes. Provide support to technical sales Strong leadership and coaching/training skills Good analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated decision-making capability Driven self-starter with the ability to multi-task and set priorities Good communicator with strong written and verbal skills Team player with good interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with all departments within the Company Must be proficient with Windows-based PC skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, etc) ISO/QS/TS knowledge preferred Company is certified to ISO 9001/ ISO/TS 16949 Automotive and ISO Medical 13485. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
